Numerical Study on Temperature Distribution of Steel Truss Aqueducts under Solar Radiation

Aqueduct, one kind of bridge structure overpassing a long space, is significant for water delivery the purpose agricultural or domestic usage. Aqueduct has quite different loads from other forms bridges, which temperature effects due to environment change, such as seasonal weather radiation sunshine, are great importance. With flowing inside, boundary aqueducts, especially steel much more complicated, and relevant researches limited. In this paper, 3D Finite Element Method (FEM) simulation process presented analyze distribution on cross-section new-type truss aqueduct, belongs Water Transfer Project Yangtze River Huai in China. ASHRAE clear-sky model used calculate solar-radiation variation, including direct radiation, diffuse sky ground reflected surfaces. The time-dependent sunshine angle incidence shielding effect trusses considered. inside aqueduct also included model, significantly influences temperatures inner surfaces aqueduct. Several distributions under critical conditions winter summer shown study, results empty same circumstances provided comparison. wind speed, geographic latitude, direction examined. conclusions approach by study could serve references thermal design control similar aqueducts.
